Four, Toyo RA1 track tires in 205/50/15, heat cycled, shaved, fresh pro race team....

I buy all my track tires used from John Berget, they are fresh, sticky and have nearly full race prepped tread still on them. The tire is an R100 and holds up very very well to heat cycles, great grip in all ways and very predictable break away.

I was able to fit the 225's front and rear on my 15x9 wheels with fender pulling and rolling so going that route.

This are great on 15x8 and will work on narrower wheels as well.

I just got this in on Tuesday, $370 shipped, $279 shipped in cont US OBO.

New lower price, need a new home, great tires with nearly full race rubber left(real racers shave them as the tread is to thick when new)

    Just $279 shipped!

Considering how these kind of tires will be used, that's a great price. Might help to provide photos of the remaining tread. But that sounds like at least 6 full HPDE all out sessions left in them (roughly 2 events). Very tempting. I'd put them on some incoming 15x7 Team Dynamics PR 1.2s. 205/50-15 is my target size. I was looking at possibly getting NT01s and heat cycling and shaving would be happening to those -- which frankly just adds more incremental cost to the new tires.

Question: Do you think they'd be good to hold over the winter and use next year? Probably summer. I just am not sure if my car will be ready this season (seems unlikely). Wheels are still in transit.

They will store perfectly fine if you bag them and keep them from freezing, warmer is even better but in a basement, spare room, etc.....they they will keep for a very long time. There is a history behind the RA1 but I forget the exact details, a spec tire change to R888 and a bunch of these were stored for some time in a heated warehouse and then finally started being use and just fine, these are one of the sets and the rubber, sidewalls, still look like fresh tires from this year and were in fact used by a pro team a couple of weeks before I got them.

As for wear, I would expect many more runs than just 6, at least twice that unless you really push and constantly overheat them. They do not heat cycle out with normal use, run all the way to the cord, a major reason I picked this particular tire, I just have the 225 now as 15x9 wheels.

I have ran many sessions on R888 tires I bought from JB with less rubber left and these have similar but more wear and just drive better.

I have pics but not on a host, send and email and I will send them to you:)

Thanks. I'll send an email. I've corded RA1s in the past. Kind of a queasy feeling looking at the tires AFTER they come off the car and, erm, seeing cord stripes or the edge bead kind of peeling and cords showing there.

I did not realize you had ran them before, I have corded tires as well, a bit scary but never had a failure....

I had both front rotors crack all the way to the hubs and close to the studs after coming off the track after the cool down lap....Brembo STI calipers, one piece stoptech rotors that were brand new that day, do not recall what pads and I had brake ducts on my very quick Forester ST.

Glad it happened at 10MPH and not 128MPH when I hit the brakes....of course more likely to fail while cooling I would think.

I called Stoptech and they paid to have them over nighted to me to inspect them as quite concerned, the next day I bought a Stoptech BBK for it.

I have had an engine let go, 5 holes in the block, off in my own oil backwards at 110MPH, jumped out, put out the fire with my handheld Halatron extinguisher....before the Safety Crew got there. They reminded me I am not supposed to fight the fire but I said it was habit I taught for 3 years in the USN so they were cool about it.

My ST is getting a Halatron as well, full time, base of passenger seat.

No blown tires, yet, hope to not have any.

Oh sigh. I had hoped to contain costs on this car, but things keep sneaking into my plans. I've been ruminating on a fire suppression setup as well. My old car had a Spa Technique LWM 50 SL AFFF 2-nozzle (one at the driver's crotch, one at the injector rail) fire suppression setup.

Your price is very fair...just not sure I want to sit on them for a year. Hah. My wheels are finally on a truck and coming (after 4 months), but there's still lots to do before getting on the track. Main thing: I am still waiting on Carbotech to get its act together. I've found some teflon/stainless brake line options and am resigned to Castrol SRF (nothing else comes close). I'll go that far and even get some kind of cooling setup done (adapted Porsche fins most likely), but 2 or 3 HPDE track days per year just does not warrant a BBK. I'll just try to dial back a little as the day wears on. My stock setup on the SVT Focus never let me down with the XP8/Castrol SRF/Goodridge setup, even with the Powerworks SC.

The worst mechanical incident for me was when one of my crap stock motor mounts (connecting the engine to the transmission) snapped on track at Seattle (speculation was that it was loose from some work that was done on the transmission). Luckily, I was under braking (which makes sense), at the slowest part of the track. I just stayed on brakes and rolled to a gravel runoff area.

I know all about plans growing and growing and growing, $20k M3 project turned into $80K, before that $50k Vette turned into $$$$$$ even worse!
Now I am retired and my ST is limited to $35k but already passing that I imagine so more like $40k total.

I sold my Racetech Halo seats, R3 restraint, Fire System, Woodward steering column, Kevlar nets, 3-layer suit, etc...........just not going to go that nuts on the ST....

I have some ATE fluid so considering using it but that SRF is the sheat......I might just have to get some but I have 3 liters of ATE I can sell.

PM your address, I will see what I can do on the shipping and entice you to buy the tires:)
